If you’re a yankees fan you know that there’s been a huge debate ever year about whether the problem is Aaron Boone or Brian Cashman. I think it should be clear now after Cashman’s recent comments about last year’s playoff run. Cashman made some comments recently about how the yankees had a good year despite getting swept in embarrassing fashion in the ALCS.
“We were four games from the world series.”
This man is happy with mediocrity. He does not care about winning a championship. He thinks a season is successful after getting swept and looking like fools against the astros. That isn’t the mentality of a yankee. It is championship or bust in yankee land, you failed if you don’t win a ring. Say what you want about Boone but the players seem to love him and it’s not like he makes decisions anyways, plus he shows he cares at times when he goes on rants at the umpires I love that. Cashman is just whatever about it all. Doesn’t care about what the outcome of the season is.
George Steinbrenner would fire his ass for making comments like “The reality was we had a hell of another run at it”. That’s just loser talk to a yankees fan. Go work for the fucking twins if you’re okay with losing. You gotta know your crowd Brian! People are not going to be happy with you talking like that so why even say those things?
Another comment I can’t get past is when he said “it felt like the way our fanbase reacted and the press that we got knocked out in the first round.” basically saying the fans overreacted to losing in the ALCS. Do you not know who you work for man? We expect championships every single season. If we lose, the season is a failure it’s that simple. The yankees aren’t a happy go lucky franchise that is okay with losing, as much as Brian Cashman wants you to believe it.
It sucks losing to the astros on our field and getting swept. The yankees forgot how to hit a baseball and it was embarrassing. It was not a “good run” in yankees’ fans eyes. Even in the division series the yankees were on the ropes when they were down 2-1 to the Cleveland Guardians. Barely made it out of that round to begin with. It was a bad postseason run, i’m tired of cashman trying to justify losing to me and I’m confident every single fan feels the same way.
At least act a little pissed and disappointed man. Show some emotion and not complacency. They’ll never get rid of the guy sadly and it’s what we’re stuck with unfortunately. One world series in 20 plus years doesn’t buy you this much arrogance. We’ve come up short every other year in heartbreaking fashion and it sucks. The fans care but it doesn’t seem like our general manager does.
Thank You.
